Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The process of welcoming new members into the Roman Catholic Church.  It is meant for those who are not baptized, baptized into another Christian Church or baptized into the Catholic Church but have yet to receive the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

Continuing Catholic Development  (CCD)

CCD instruction is offered through the School of Religion, Mrs. Jeanette Tuzzolino and her volunteer catechists guide the children through their journey of faith. Instruction is for children in Pre-K through 8th grade. The program materials and teachings are approved by the Archdiocese of NY. Parent and child involvement and worshiping together is encouraged in the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

CCD instruction is from the end of September until the end of May. Registration begins in February. Volunteers are needed.

Family Mass

During the Family Mass the children from the CCD program take part in the Sunday Mass.  Volunteers greet parishioners, read the Word of God, bring up the gifts and assist the Ushers.  The homily is child friendly and family oriented.  The Family Mass takes place on the 4th Sunday of the month during September through June.

Jesus Time

Children ages 3-8 are invited to the chapel during the 9:30 am Sunday Mass for their own Liturgy of the Word. The children hear the gospel in a child friendly format, listen to songs and have a discussion about the teachings. They return to the Mass right before the offertory.

Jesus Time takes place during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month during September through June.  Parents are encouraged to volunteer to lead the weekly sessions; high school students may also volunteer as assistants.
